Filipino-American rider Daniel Caluag got off to a bad start in his London 2012 campaign, finishing last in the seeding run of the BMX competition Wednesday.
Caluag went first and finished with a time of 40.9 seconds, 3.121 off the first place time of Dutch rider Raymon van der Biezen. That time was good for 31st place. The 32nd competitor, Latvian Edzus Treimanis, did not finish the race.
The last Filipino representative in London, however, still has a chance to bounce back on Thursday, when the quarterfinals of the BMX competition gets underway. No cyclist has been eliminated from contention so far.
Caluag, the only Asian to qualify for the London Games, had strong showings leading into the Olympics, including a quarterfinal finish in the UCI BMX World C
