The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to produce Jonas Burgos, son of the late press freedom fighter Joe Burgos, who disappeared in 2007 in what the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said was a case of enforced disappearance perpetrated by the military.
In a resolution penned by Associate Justice Arturo Brion released yesterday, the SC also directed the Court of Appeals (CA) to reopen the habeas corpus petition filed by Burgos’ mother Edita against the military which it had earlier dismissed.
