How to Recover Hidden Files From Flash Drives or External Hard Disks Due to Virus Infection

If you have some nasty virus on USB drive that hide all your file in the drive? ie; hides your files and folders, creates exe file extensions of your folders and even corrupt your files.

Here is a step by step procedure how to unhide the hidden files on your flash and or external hard drive (virus infected maybe)

Step One:
Plug your USB Pendrive or External HDD or Memory Card which is Affected. Normally we do - folder options-->> we activate Show hidden files, folders and drives. If this does'nt work then take step no. 2

Step Two:
Go to Start -> Run-> Type CMD and Enter

Step Three:
Find the drive letter for the connected USB drive. For Example, E:

In command prompt, type E:

and Hit enter. Command Prompt will show E:/

Step Four:
Then type

ATTRIB -s -h /s /d *.* OR
ATTRIB -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.* OR
ATTRIB -S -H *.* /S /D

Make sure that you put space between each elements in the code, and hit enter and wait for few seconds.

Check the Screen Shot of Above Steps:

Wait for a minute if the directory appear, type Exit then open your flash drive, now check your USB pendrive you can see your files are back in their locations.

If this doesn’t work ( didn’t work for me) you can download a software called ‘USB Show’ It is a very easy tool to recover the hidden files and it worked for me. It is a small software but it is effective.
You can download USB Show software from HERE
