2 Unpaid, Maltreated OFWs Rescued in Kuwait

Two Filipino household service workers were rescued from their abusive employer who also refused to pay them more than a years’ worth of wages in Kuwait.

Melissa and Christina were both thankful to be rescued from the home of their employer by Consul General Raul Dado of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait.

“We filed a complaint doon sa labor office and also doon sa Chief of Operations Security of Kuwait Police because we want to establish the proper procedures. Kapag may minaltratong kababayan natin, we not only rescue, but we prosecute,” said Dado.

Melissa said their employer did not pay her for 18 months despite her pleas.

For her part, Christina said she was not paid for one year.

“Hindi po sila nagbibigay ng sweldo, kailangang umiyak pa sa harapan nila,” she said.
The two also claimed to have endured maltreatment from their employer.

Christina said she experienced being slapped on the face and hit on the head.
“Pag inutusan, binabatukan po niya kami,” said Christina.
