The free MRT rides for government workers would start at 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. while free LRT lines 1 and 2 rides would be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., respectively.

Government workers must present their recent and valid identification cards (IDs) to avail of the free rides.

The free ride is a project of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

CSC chairperson Francisco Duque III announced that state workers would be treated to a special three-day sale at SM department stores nationwide starting today until Wednesday as part of the CSC anniversary celebration.

The government workers can avail of five percent discounts on all regular items for every minimum purchase of P500 that could be upgraded to 10 percent discounts still for every minimum purchase of P500 if the state worker also has an SM Advantage Card, an SM Prestige Card, a MOM Card or a BDO Reward Card.

The state employees are required to present their valid office or Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) IDs for validation purposes.

The CSC said the special promo excludes purchases at Snack Exchange, Camera Shop, Customer Service Counters, and items like chemical, toiletries, diapers, pharmacy, small appliances, business machines and other promo items stressing that the promo also applies to minimum purchases of P500 only.
