THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) may revoke the driver’s license of Robert Blair Carabuena, an executive at the tobacco firm Phillip Morris, after a television news crew caught him assaulting Saturnino Fabros, a traffic enforcer of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), last week.
Teofilo Guadiz 3rd, chief of the LTO-National Capital Region (NCR), has asked Mr. Yves Gonzales, head of the MMDA Traffic Discipline Office, to furnish a copy of Fabros’ complaint.
Based on available evidence, Guadiz will ask Carabuena to answer the complaint. According to the LTO official, the Philip Morris executive may face suspension or see his driver’s license revoked.
Guadiz said that if a traffic violation was committed and the driver assaults the law enforcer, his license may be revoked or confiscated.
On August 11, Fabros flagged down Carabuena and his brother Robert Benjamin for ignoring a red light at the corner of Capitol Hills Drive and Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City. In response, the Phillip Morris executive berated the MMDA officer, who did not fight back, and began slapping him.
