The giant crocodile called “Lolong” which was captured in the province of Agusan del Sur in the Philippines was declared by the Guinness World Records as the World’s Largest Saltwater Crocodile in captivity.
Lolong measures 20.24 feet (6.17 meters) and weighs over a ton, according to Anne-Lise Rouse, Guinness spokeswoman.
The captivity of Lolong since September last year has brought mixed emotions among the local residents for fear of more giant crocodiles might be roaming in the creek where villagers fish, according to AP.
"There were mixed feelings," Mayor Edwin Cox Elorde told AP by telephone.
"We're really proud because it proves the rich biodiversity of our place but at the same time, there are fears that Lolong may not be alone."
