DOH says Beef Safe to Eat



The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday supported the advisory of the Department of Agriculture (DA) that there should no concern about safety of beef in the country amid reports of mad cow disease in the United States.

DOH Assistant Secretary Dr. Eric Tayag, DOH spokesman, said that reported single case of mad cow disease of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) was already isolated in the United States dairy herd picked up during random surveillance at an abattoir in California.
“Eating of beef, bulalo is still safe,” said Tayag, noting that the DA is continuously on the look-out for mad cow issue, considering that the country imports beef from the U.S
