CHED OKS TUITION HIKE FOR 222 COLLEGES

MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Higher Education on Tuesday said it has approved the petition for tuition increase of 222 private colleges and universities around the country.

CHED said 222 out of the 301 private higher education institutions (HEIs) were allowed to increase tuition for school year 2013 to 2014.

Of the 301 petitions, 79 are still pending in Metro manila, Central Luzon, Bicol and Western Visayas.

The National Capital Region (NCR) had the highest number of petitioners with 67, while Cagayan Valley had the lowest with 4.

Aside from NCR, regions 11 (Davao Region); and 4-A (Calabarzon) have the most number of HEIs raising their tuitions with 41 and 36, respectively.
