4 OFWS KIDNAPPED IN DUBAI

MANILA, Philippines — Four overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were abducted by four unidentified persons at a bus station in Dubai last Friday, reports said.

Three of the OFWs were identified as Narcisa Suno, Shirley Valladores, and Laga Hata Kornel. The fourth victim is also a runaway domestic worker. She was apparently taking temporary refuge with Suno and Kornel.

According to Migrante-United Arab Emirates, a friend of one of the four OFWs, Jimmy Jacob, sought the group’s assistance to locate the missing Filipinos.

Jacob said Suno is trying to help another OFW who had asked for assistance since she plans to run away from her abusive employer.

Suno, herself, absconded from her employer who is related to the employer of her cousin Valladores. Their employers are living on the same compound, Jacob said.

Based on their plan, Suno and Valladores have to go to Bur Dubai bus station where they could fetch a fellow OFW.

A white Mercedez Benz supposedly arrived with Kornel and another OFW inside and stopped in front of Suno and Valladores. Two men got off the car, introduced themselves as local police agents, then grabbed and forced the two to go near the car.

Based on reports, Jacob said Suno and Valladores were seen by bystanders being slapped and manhandled by two Emirate women who alighted from the car while the OFWs were being asked to tell where their other companions are.

Suno and Valladores were later forced to board the car that took them to their rented house at 12 Street, Villa 26, Irani Sabiya, Jumeirah 1, where Jacob was also staying.

The suspects ransacked the rooms taking with them two mobile phones and cash belonging to Jacob and another OFW.

Hours later when the unidentified persons left with the four OFWs, Jacob said he received a call from a someone who introduced himself as the employer of the four OFWs telling him that he will only release the Filipinos in exchange for 5,000 United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED).

“We are now calling the attention of the Philippine Consulate in Dubai to form and dispatch a quick reaction team to locate the four and probe this report,” said John Leonard Monterona, Migrante-Middle East regional coordinator.
