Samsung Galaxy S5 Active Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active rugged Android smartphone. The S5 Active has identical internals to the Galaxy S5 and it loses only the fingerprint scanner in the move to a more rugged design. Like the Galaxy S5, The Active has a full HD Super AMOLED 5.1" display, 2.5GHz quad core Snapdragon CPU, Adreno 330 graphics and 2 gigs of RAM.

The phone has 16 gigs of storage, a microSD card slot and a micro USB 2.0 port. The Galaxy S5 Active, like the standard S5 is water resistant to 1 meter for 30 minutes and dust resistant.

The more rugged casing adds an ounce of weight and brings shock resistance for drops up to 3-4 feet onto a hard surface.

The S5 Active is currently exclusive to AT&T in the US and it sells for $199 with contract. It has dual band WiFi 802.11AC, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, a GPS, 4G LTE, 16MP rear camera that can record 4k video, front 2MP camera and a removable 2800 mAh battery.
