UNA drops Chiz, Loren, Grace Poe From Senatorial Ticket

The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) has removed re-electionists Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Loren Legarda and Grace Poe-Llamanzares from its senatorial slate. This was announced by Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco, the campaign manager of UNA.

In a statement, Navotas Rep. and UNA secretary general Tobias Tiangco said the UNA "is no longer obligated to include the names of Chiz Escudero, Loren Legarda and Grace Poe-Llamanzares in its list of candidates."

The decision came out after the alliance saw that the three candidates are not taking any concrete moves or extended meaningful gesture to assure that they will live up to their commitments. The three candidates have failed to appear in any UNA campaign sorties.

Legarda, Escudero and Llamanzares are three guest candidates of the alliance but also running under the ticket of President Noynoy Aquino’s Liberal Party or what is now commonly called through its monicker “Team Pinoy”.

“We tried our best to accommodate them. We know that the LP, through Sen. Franklin Drilon, has warned them repeatedly about joining our election activities. We have held on to their assurances that they will join us sooner or later,” Tiangco said.

He added: “It is clear that they have made up their minds. We need to move on.”
