Manila, January 10, 2013 – Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Chairperson Teresita R. Manzala today effected the preventive suspension of PRC Commissioner Alfredo Y. Po following an order issued by the Office of the Ombudsman on January 9, 2013.
The order for preventive suspension was issued in accordance with Section 9, Rule III of Administrative Order No.7, as amended, and Section 24 of Republic Act No. 6770.
Charges of grave misconduct and violation of section 7 (d) of Republic Act No.6713 (Solicitation of Gifts); and grave misconduct, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service and violation of Republic Act No.6713 section 7 (d) were filed against Po before the Office of the Ombudsman.
According to the Office of the Ombudsman, the suspension will continue until the case is terminated, but not to exceed the total period of six months, without pay.
