LANDMINE INCIDENT IN LUPON, DAVAO ORIENTAL


One killed Ten others wounded Mati City - Govt troops under 28IB led by 2LT PAYPA onboard two military truck were hit by landmine this 12:20 midnight at Sitio Mainit, Brgy. Calapagan, Lupon, Davao Oriental while on their way back to headquarters.


The Peace and Dev't Troops were on convoy when a landmine exploded hitting the rear portion of the second vehicle and was thrown approximately 15meters, 6 were seriously injured and immediately brought to the Prov'l Hospital but one soldier did not make it.

PFC Jhassam C. Diaz died while being treated in the hospital while 5 others sustained minor injuries. Four of the seriously injured were evacuated to Tagum Regional Hospital, Tagum City. The rest of wounded were being treated now in the Davao Oriental Prov'l Hospital, Mati City.

"This is a clear manifestation that the NPA deliberately violate and does not respect the Comprehnisive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and Internat'l Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) and they are desperate that they ignore what their representative signed up," LTC Paniza 10ID Spokesperson said.
