The House committee on justice voted yesterday to declare the two impeachment complaints against Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez as having “sufficient grounds” in stormy proceedings that some lawmakers questioned as being out of order.This developed as the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday gave the House committee on justice the go-signal to hear the impeachment case against the embattled Ombudsman pending finality of its decision last month allowing the case to proceed.
