This is with reference to your letter today on a news article under Biz Buzz column entitled “No Deal”, posted in the Inquirer.net on December 17, 2012.
The article reported in part that: FROM most indications, the courtship between the Ayala-controlled Bank of the Philippine Islands and Philippine National Bank of tycoon Lucio Tan is over.
"The deal will never happen," a source told Biz Buzz, adding that no less than "Kapitan" (the tobacco and beer magnate's nickname in the business community) has vetoed the deal. ...... Please be advised that we are not in a position to comment on the statements issued by unnamed sources or presumably by the legal advisor of Mr. Lucio Tan. At this time, there are no further developments on the ongoing talks with the Lucio Tan Group that would warrant disclosure.
