OLYMPICS: USA beats Argentina, to meet Australia in quarterfinals



Team USA ended the preliminary round with a 5-0 win-loss record after defeating Argentina, 126-97, in the 2012 London Olympics men’s basketball Monday night.

The Americans had a tremendous 42-point third quarter which included five 3-point shots from Kevin Durant.

Durant led the US scoring with 28 points. He also added 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Lebron James made 18 points and added 5 assist. Chris Paul finished with 17 points and 7 assists. Kevin Love and Andre Iguodala contributed 13 points and 9 rebounds each while Kobe Bryant added 11 points.

With its victory against rival Argentina, USA became Group A’s No. 1 seed. The star-studded team will meet Australia (3-2), Group B’s No. 4 seed, at the North Greenwich Arena on Wednesday, August 8 at 10:15 p.m. (5:15 p.m. EDT).

2:00 PM: Russia (B1) vs Lithuania (A4)
4:15 PM: France (A2) vs Spain (B3)
8:00 PM: Brazil (B2) vs Argentina (A3)
10:15 PM: USA (A1) vs Australia (B4)
