Ateneo de Manila University To Hold Classes In Hong Kong


A degree course for overseas Filipinos will be conducted in Hong Kong starting July 15, by the prestigious Ateneo de Manila University.



The Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship (LSE) Training Program, is a joint initiative of the Migration and Development Consortium (MDC), Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), Overseas Filipinos Society for the Promotion of Economic Security (OFSPES), Social Enterprise Development Partnership Incorporated (SEDPI) and several government institutions such as the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).

The LSE program covers 12 sessions over a six-month period, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm every other Sunday. It is composed of three modules, namely financial literacy, leadership and social entrepreneurship.

Ateneo alumnus Consul Val Roque commended the program during the course orientation held at the conference room in the Consulate on Jun. 3.

“At last a worthwhile program emerged,” he said, noting that the modules include debt management. He said debt trap is one of the most common dilemmas among the OFWs especially the new comers. Also, he said that the Consulate has been acting as mediators whenever problems arise in an organization regarding money swindling or mismanagement of fund.
