How do you dry your hands in a public restroom? Do you use paper towels, your own handkerchief or the air dryer?
I was told not to use the air dryer because it will just make my hands dirty again. How? Read on.
A recent study revealed that rubbing hands thoroughly dry with paper towels gives you 99 percent guarantee that you are walking out of the restroom clean.
Since germs love water, they harbor in wet places to move around and multiply. The study said the skin-on-skin friction created while you rub your hands under the blower releases more germs that live deep in your pores.
Besides, the blow dryer had been sitting in the restroom for months or years and the germs lurk around and inside while it is idle.
If you thought using paper towels is earth-unfriendly, you can still use the blower but don’t rub your hands. Hold your hands still, palms up, and leave them there for at least 30 seconds.
But if you can’t stand the heat, choose paper towels to get your hands clean. Don’t wipe them on your jeans or shirt sleeves. You’re just recontaminating your hands.
