BINAY EYES POWERHOUSE SLATE WITH MIGZ, KOKO

MANILA, Philippines — If he is to have his way and prepare for higher office, Vice President Jejomar C. Binay said he will field a powerhouse lineup for the 2013 senatorial elections that will include old political rivals Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri.

Binay, in an ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) television interview aired on Monday, said he wishes to be in a coalition with the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDPLaban) that will include incumbent Senators Gregorio Honasan and Loren Legarda, whom he beat in the 2010 vice presidential race.

His multi-party coalition, however, will not include the Liberal Party’s candidate for vice president in the 2010 elections, Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) Secretary Manuel Roxas II.

Incidentally, Binay said Justice Secretary Leila de Lima whom he described as “a good team player” definitely would be one candidate for the administration slate.

Binay, who has made known his intention to run for President in 2016, said he has spoken with Lakas-Kampi-CMD member, Zubiri, about a possible coalition with PDP-Laban who has the young Pimentel as its president.
