Overseas Intern Program for Filipino Students Suspended


The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has announced that the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) has been suspended by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).


In a statement the POEA has warned the public particularly students of higher education institutions to be on the lookout for unscrupulous individuals offering schemes that arranges students to undergo practicum overseas particularly in Singapore without the required documentary processing from the POEA and the CHED.

The suspension came as CHED has monitored the rise of Filipino students/ trainees and graduates of higher education institutions who became victims of cheap labor and human trafficking in Singapore.
