Governor Petilla, who called the OFWs as “modern-day heroes” in his message, hailed them for their perseverance for the sake of a better life for themselves and their loved ones in spite of the distance between their families.
“Every day, we strive to honor your sacrifices” Governor Petilla said noting that there are many dedicated OFWs who work for the family and country.
He also acknowledged the contribution of OFWs to the country’s growing economy, stable society and richer culture though he admitted that “there is a tinge of sadness because it comes at the cost of being away from families”.
