AUSTRALIA ON SPRATLYS: RESPECT LAW OF THE SEA

Australia shares the position of the Philippines that international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), should be the basis for settling territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea and South China Sea.

The Philippines, meanwhile, called on member-states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to take a common stand on developments in the West Philippine Sea. [ FULL STORY ]
