Kings to stay in Sacramento at least one more year

NEW YORK — The Sacramento Kings will remain in the California capital for at least one more season after dropping plans to relocate to Anaheim, the NBA said on its website Monday.

The Maloof family, owners of the Kings, had been investigating a move to Orange County after its efforts to secure a new arena deal in Sacramento stalled.

"We are heading back to Sacramento," Kings co-owner George Maloof told the Sacramento Bee. "It was a tough decision.

"Ticket holders were reaching out to us, and it was the right thing to do to give it a shot at one more season."
