SAN ANTONIO - Argentine playmaker Manu Ginobili scored 22 points and the NBA-leading San Antonio Spurs defeated Houston 108-95 on Saturday, stretching their home win streak to 18 games.

The Spurs improved to a league-best 40-7, only 10 triumphs shy of their total for all of last season, and 25-2 at home as they prepare to launch a three-week, nine-game road swing while a rodeo takes over their home arena.

San Antonio's home win streak is the team's longest since the Spurs won 20 in a row in the 1989-90 season.

Richard Jefferson added 18 points and French guard Tony Parker contributed 17 points for the Spurs while Argentine big man Luis Scola led Houston with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

The Spurs seized a 76-71 lead after three quarters and went 5-for-8 in 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to seal Houston's fate.

San Antonio will face only three teams with winning records -- Portland, Chicago and the Los Angeles Lakers -- on the road trip before next taking the court again at home, that coming on February 23 against Oklahoma City.
