MANILA, Philippines — The Reigning PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo was shackled in the early goings but came alive in the fourth quarter and gain to help the San Miguel Beermen to an 87-81 victory over the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters and a 2-0 lead in their PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Veteran guard Alex Cabagnot getting comfortable, who returned to new old team, exploded with 21 points, three boards, and one assist off the bench.
While Jun Mar Fajardo, finished with a double-double of 15 points and 12 boards and Chris Lutz quietly contributed with 14 points and 4 rebounds while former MVP Arwind Santos had 10 markers and 7 boards across his name.
“Fortunately we were able to get this one,” Beermen coach Leo Austria said.
“We knew they were going to bounce back, but my players did not give up. The good thing is their composure is always there.” Game Three is on Tuesday.
