Searching for a job abroad, Papua New Guinea is offering Filipino teachers and lecturers close to P850,000 a year to fill up an "urgent" requirement for qualified educators.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said that about 81 teachers and lecturers on physics, biology, biological technology, building architecture, civil engineering, surveying, drafting, economics, management and electrical engineering are urgently needed to fill in the teaching position vacancies in Papua New Guinea's Department of Education.
Representatives of Papua New Guinea will help assess and interview applicants and its government will help process working visas for the recruits. Deployment of teachers in Papua New Guinea is part of the newly-signed bilateral agreement between the two countries. Qualified teachers may earn around PNG Kina 52,759 to PNG Kina 47,489, or the equivalent of P844,144 to P758,224 per year.
Baldoz added that applicants who meet the requirements will be shortlisted and interviewed by representatives of Papua New Guinea’s Department of Education.
The agreement between the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, which is in effect for five years, spells out the framework for areas of cooperation between the two governments on matters relating to labor—how to facilitate labor market access and accord labor mobility in accordance with existing rules and regulations in the Philippines and Papua New Guinea.
