A Filipino helper, whose contract will expire soon, allegedly stuffed a towel into the mouth of her employer before attacking him with a chopper.
The woman, surnamed Rueme, 45, was being held by police last night.
Her employer, surnamed Fok, was sleeping when the alleged incident occurred around 1am yesterday at a flat in East Sun Mansion on Robinson Road, Mid-Levels.
Fok suffered injuries to the head and arms and was taken to Queen Mary Hospital.
He was discharged at 7pm, with stitches to the head and a bandage on his left arm.
Police were investigating the motive, including the possibility that Rueme feared losing her job.
