Pacquiao-Marquez V possible in Macau

MANILA – Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez has decided to put off his retirement after he was able to convince his wife to allow him a few more fights before finally calling it quits.

His Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran said Marquez has confirmed that he will fight again following his big win over Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao last December.

“He already spoke with his wife and children, with his family, and they support him in continuing [his career]," Beltran said in Boxing Scene.

Marquez's wife, Erika, had said she no longer wants her husband to fight especially after seeing how Pacquiao lost last December.

Pacquiao walked straight to Marquez's counter right hand and was knocked out cold in the sixth round of their fourth encounter.

“I was very [upset] when I saw Pacquiao's wife crying, desperate to climb into the ring. She feared the worst. I saw what she felt and I reflected, and understood her suffering. I felt her anguish when I saw that Pacquiao did not move and did not get up," she had said in a post-fight interview.

"Juan Manuel Márquez already confirmed to me that he plans to continue [his career] in boxing and [told me] it is necessary to begin to review offers, to see the plans, to begin [the next steps] the following big fight [from last December]. He already spoke with his wife and children, with his family, and they support him in continuing [his career]," wika ni Beltran.

But there is also the new arena in Mexico City.".

"The two fighters do not want to pay so many taxes, and yes, there is the possibility that it will happen in Macau, which is something that [Top Rank CEO] Bob [Arum] likes,” said Beltran.
