For most of the tournament, San Mig Coffee superstar James Yap has been playing through pain with any number of minor injuries.
But in the Mixers’ Philippine Cup semifinals opener against Rain or Shine Wednesday, he suffered what he fears could be a more serious injury.
“Na-hyper extend ko yung tuhod ko,” said Yap, whose exit in the fourth quarter left fans fearing about his condition.
“Kung yung mga fans natakot, ako rin natakot ako. Kaya ang ginawa ko na lang nagpalabas ako.”
Yap had to be helped off going to the bench.
On Thursday, he will undergo to determine how serious his injury is. He has been recuperating from a bone spur in his left ankle, causing him to miss one game in the eliminations.
“Yung ankle ko, medyo nawawala na yung sakit. Itong tuhod ko lang ngayon na na-hyper extend, masakit pa rin,” added Yap, who struggled for 11 points on 3-of-13 shooting from the field. ( InterAKTV )
