KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, Dec 11 (PIA) -- Members of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) need not rush to GW@PS kiosks to key in their application for emergency loan, which the agency has granted to members in Mindanao and Visayas who were adversely affected by typhoon Pablo.

GSIS General Santos City branch manager Deity Manampan assured members that enough fund have been allotted for the purpose and appealed to them not to flock to the kiosks at once because they have until the first week of January to avail of the loan.
Manampan’s appeal came after thousands of members mobbed their GWAPS kiosks across the region yesterday.
Queue at the GWAPS kiosk inside South Cotabato Provincial Capitol reached outside the gate to Alunan Avenue. The lobby of Koronadal City Hall, where another kiosk was installed, was also filled with government employees wanting to avail of the calamity loan.
The situation was aggravated by a grapevine information that the window for the emergency loan will be open only until December 10, which in turn caused system overload and delay in the processing of loans, he said.
“I would like to highlight that granting of the calamity loan is until January 5, 2013,” Manampan said.
“There is no need to panic. GSIS has sufficient funds to cater to all the members in Visayas and Mindanao who would apply for calamity loan,” he assured.
Manampan also explained that although not mentioned in reports of national newspapers on Sunday as among the list of areas areas granted the emergency loan, the provinces of Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, as well as General Santos City and the other component cities here are included in the emergency loan grant.
At one point last week, storm signal bo. 1 was hoisted over South Cotabato and Sarangani; signal no. 2 over Sultan Kudarat and signal no. 3 in North Cotabato.
Other areas that were granted the emergency loan are Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Zamboanga del Norte, Camiguin, Surigao del Norte, Siargao, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Province, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao del Norte, Samal Island, Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, North Cotabato, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Maguindanao, Bohol, Siquijor, Southern Cebu, Southern Negros Oriental, Southern Negros Occidental, Southern Leyte, Antique, Iloilo, Camotes Island.
Under the emergency loan program of GSIS, each eligible member may borrow P20,000, payable in three years. Payment begins three months after the loan was granted.
Manampan said GSIS members may apply for the emergency loan through the GW@PS kiosks in their area using either the eCard or UMID eCard.
Those with temporary eCards need to go to the nearest GSIS office to apply for the loan over-the-counter.
Members who have existing emergency loans may be allowed to renew their emergency loan after payment of 12 monthly repayments, but not later than the anniversary date of the previous loan. ( DEDoguiles-PIA 12 )
