Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Wednesday ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to hunt down and arrest persons or groups of persons responsible for the hacking of the websites of several government agencies as online protests against the Cybercrime Law continues.
Yesterday, four more government websites were hacked before dawn. These are the Official Gazette (http://www.gov.ph/), Congress (http://www.senate.gov.ph/ and http://www.congress.gov.ph/) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) (http://www.nbi.gov.ph/).
The online services of these government agencies were put to halt and inaccessible for a few hours, De Lima said.
The hacking of the websites of various government agencies is reportedly in protest against the implementation of Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 that took effect yesterday.
