In a huge upset, former IBF 126-pound titleholder Orlando Salido (35-11-2, 23 KOs) scored an eighth round TKO over previously unbeaten WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez (30-1, 27 KOs) on Saturday night at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. After four competitive rounds, Salido floored JuanMa hard at the end of the fifth round. Salido was on the attack in the sixth round, but a the still-hurt Lopez survived. In round seven, JuanMa came back, but after Salido launched an attack in round eight referee Roberto Ramirez Jr. waved it off even though JuanMa was still fighting back. Time was 1:39.
Unbeaten jr lightweight Luis Cruz (18-0, 14 KOs) scores a ten round unnaimous decision over world-ranked Martin “El Brochas” Honorio (29-6-1, 15 KOs). Scores were 100-90, 96-94, 98-92.
Unbeaten lightweight Jose Gonzalez (15-0, 11 KOs) won by TKO at :40 seconds of the third round against Miguel Ángel Munguía (18-19-1, 15 KOs).
Heavyweight Víctor Bisbal (19-1, 13 KOs) won by unanimous eight round decision over Willie Herring (12-9-3, 3 KOs). Scores were 78-73, 77-74 and 77-74.
Unbeaten 6’6 heavyweight Carlos Negrón (12-0, 8 KOs) stopped Emerson Chasing Bear (4-2-2, 3 KOs) at 1:23 of the fourth round.
Cuban welterweight Yordenis Ugas (7-0, 4 KOs) won by TKO at 1:05 of the sixth round against Carlos García (6-8, 6 KOs).
Crusiserweight Sullivan Barrera (7-0, 5 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over faded former world title challenger Epifanio Mendoza (30-12-1, 26 KOs). Scores were 40-36 on all cards.
A junior flyweight clash between Israel Vázquez (2-0-2, 2 KOs) and Luis Díaz (0-3-1) ended in a majority draw when judges voted 39-37 for Diaz, and 38-38, 38-38. Vazquez is the son of Puerto Rican great Wilfredo Vazquez and the brother of current WBO world champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.
Top Rank’s newly-signed Flyweight Jonathan Gonzalez (2-0, 2 KOs) of Caguas,Puerto Rico stayed undefeated by stopping Elvin Caldero (0-1) in the first round.
