MABASA, Manila Bulletin Racing against time to save Filipinos caught by the turmoil in Libya, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration has chartered a ship from Benghazi to ferry about 1,600 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Crete Island in Greece. From Crete, the OFWs will travel to Athens where they will take flights to the Philippines. OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dimzon said the OFWs will be met by Task Force Libya – composed of representatives from the DFA, OWWA, DoLE, and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office – which will help them process their tickets to enable them to fly home. |
