SWS: NOY GOV'T RATING IMPROVES FROM 'GOOD' TO 'VERY GOOD'


MANILA, Philippines - The Aquino administration has improved its satisfaction rating from “good” in June to “very good” in September, the Social Weather Stations (SWS) said in its latest survey.

The SWS poll, taken from Sept. 4 to 7, found 68 percent of respondents satisfied and 12 percent dissatisfied with the general performance of the administration, yielding a “very good” net satisfaction rating of +56.

AQUINO: PAGCOR SPENT P1B FOR COFFEE


By Maila Ager, INQUIRER.net - The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) during the time of then President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has allegedly spent P1 billion for coffee, President Benigno Aquino himself disclosed this on Monday.

Aquino made this revelation during his second State of the Nation Address at the House of Representatives in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. In just one year in office, Aquino said his administration uncovered another irregularity involving the previous management of Pagcor.

The government is moving towatd the "final chapter" of its anti-corruption drive against officials of the previous administration, President Benigno Aquino III said on Thursday.

According to the chief executive, the govermment is about to file cases “so that we can now channel all our energy toward a conviction and to ensure those who are guilty are put to jail.” The President, however, did not identify who among the former offcials would be slapped with corruption charges.

“We’re just a year, the boxing is just starting. There are still many things to be done. Please help me so that when I step down in 2016, and I hope I will be retiring, we can look back and say, our mother nation, the Philippines has come a long way,” Aquino said in a speech in Kalibo.
