Land Bank Approves More OFW Loans

The Land Bank of the Philippines has approved more loans for returning Overseas Filipino Workers under the government’s OFW Reintegration Program (OFW-RP).


In a statement posted on its website (landbank.com), the bank said this would allow more OFWs to start their own businesses.

Malaysian Government Pardons 3 OFWs on Death Row


Three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on death row have been pardoned by the Malaysian government, Vice President Jejomar Binay said on Wednesday. In a post on his Twitter account, Binay thanked the Malaysian government for the gesture. Binay, however, did not give further details about the pardoned Filipinos.

Cathay Pacific Offloads Consul Francis Chua For Failure to Fasten Seat Belt


A Hong Kong-bound Cathay Pacific flight turned back shortly after takeoff yesterday from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and was delayed by half an hour to offload what airline crew said was an “unruly” honorary Filipino consul.
Businessman Francis Chua was offloaded because he refused to fasten his seatbelt, Cathay Pacific said.

INCOMING HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMEN TO BECOME GRADE 7 NEXT YEAR

The Department of Education (DepEd) will implement the K+12 basic education program in academic year 2012-2013, starting with the conversion of first year high school to Grade 7.

Education Secretary Armin Luistro said a curriculum had been created for Grade 7. The K+12 basic education plan consists of kindergarten, six years of elementary education, four years of junior high school (Grade 7 to 10), and two years of senior high school.

PNoy’s Ultimate Goal: Bring OFWs back to PH

The Aquino government is finding ways to bring back overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and encourage potential ones to stay in the country.


“That is the ultimate goal–that we have 10 million OFWs and we want them to be back here and the way to be able to do that is with the jobs that are available here,” President Benigno Aquino III said in the live interview on the YouTube Worldview series Friday.
